Surf City Fire Department investigating explosions amid home fire

No one was injured, but the home is heavily damaged and multiple cars were burned, according to the fire department.

SURF CITY, N.C. (WITN) – Crews are back at the scene of fire Thursday morning after officials say multiple fire departments were called to put out flames consuming a home and multiple cars Wednesday night.

The Surf City Fire Department says firefighters were called to a house engulfed in flames and reported sounds of explosions.

Officials say emergency crews were called to 1110 South Topsail Drive last night around 8:30 p.m. and didn’t clear the area until 1:30 a.m. today.

After arriving at the home, they confirmed explosions happening amid the fire.

Surf City crews, Topsail Beach Fire Department, Pender EMS and Fire, and North Topsail Beach Fire Department worked together to put out the fire.

No one was injured, but the home is heavily damaged, according to the fire department.
