Stolen boats found in Carteret County

The three boats, worth around $500,000, were taken from Boats 365 off of Highway 24 and one from Goose Creek Marina in the same area Saturday night.

BEAUFORT, N.C. (WITN) – Deputies say they have found three stolen boats, along with another one that had yet to be reported stolen.

The three boats, worth around $500,000, were taken from Boats 365 off of Highway 24 and one from Goose Creek Marina in the same area Saturday night.

Deputies say the boats were found this morning at L.B. Page Construction on McLean Drive in Cape Carteret.

It appears the thieves removed the motors from the boats Saturday night at the construction company.

Sheriff Asa Buck said some ways people can make sure their boats are secure is by doing research on the different ways to lock up the boat and when you can, have security cameras set up.

“Anything that helps us to get there and respond quicker,” Sheriff Buck said. “Often times we can catch someone in the act if they get a notice and say ‘hey there’s someone on my property who is not supposed to be there’ and we can get law enforcement rolling up there and possibly catch someone in the act.”

Deputies ask if anyone saw anything suspicious near L.B. Page between 9:00 p.m. and midnight Saturday, or saw any dark pickup trucks pulling a boat on Highway 58, Taylor Notion Road, or Highway 24 towards Nine Mile Road to call them at 252-726-1911.

The boats taken Saturday night were a 28-foot Cobia, 2024-year model, with dual 300 HP outboard motors (dark gray), a 26-foot Cobia, 2024-year model, with dual 200 HP outboard motors (light gray) and 24-foot Bay Rider, 2024-year model, with a single outboard motor (white/cream).
