POLICE: Suspect arrested in domestic violence homicide in Rocky Mount

Police say Jeffries was placed in the Edgecombe County Jail with no bond

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. (WITN) – Police say a man has been arrested after a deadly domestic violence incident in Rocky Mount on Sunday.

According to the Rocky Mount Police Department, they responded at 2:58 am to a report of an unconscious female located at 308 Marigold Street.

They say the victim, whose name is being withheld until family is notified, was pronounced dead at the home by EMS.

Police say the suspect, 43-year-old Scottie Jeffries, was arrested on scene and charged with first degree murder.

They say Jeffries was placed in the Edgecombe County Jail with no bond.

The Rocky Mount Criminal Investigations Division continues to investigate this case.
