New details released on six-vehicle pileup in Lenoir County

The driver of one car was airlifted to ECU Health Medical Center with serious life-threatening injuries.

LENOIR COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) – Troopers are still investigating yesterday’s chain reaction pileup that seriously injured one driver.

The crash happened around 2:30 p.m. in Little Baltimore, at the intersection of U.S. 70 and Jim Sutton Road outside of La Grange.

The Highway Patrol says a truck pulled an enclosed trailer didn’t slow down for stopped traffic on U.S. 70 and rear-ended a car that was stopped.

The driver of that car was airlifted to ECU Health Medical Center with serious life-threatening injuries.

In all, six vehicles were involved in the crash.

Troopers say five other people were taken to UNC Lenoir Health Care with minor injuries. They say charges are pending in the crash.
