LENOIR COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) – Early Tuesday morning, a tractor-trailer overturned across the lanes of a major highway, closing it for multiple hours.
According to the Hugo Fire and Rescue Department Chief a Minges Bottling Group truck overturned around 4:40 a.m. this morning.
He says the driver inside was taken to UNC Lenoir Health Care with minor injuries.
Photos shared by the fire department show it lying across southbound lanes of Highway 11. A stretch of Highway 11 between Sharon Church Roads and Ferrell Road has been closed since around 5 a.m.
The fire chief says when the truck overturned, product bottles spilled onto the roadway. Crews are working to clear the bottles and re-open the highway.
