Young child removed from home after deputies say they found methamphetamines

CARTERET COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) – A Carteret County woman is facing drug and child abuse charges after deputies and DSS visited her home on Monday.

Patricia Willis is charged with trafficking in methamphetamine by possession, trafficking in methamphetamine by manufacture, trafficking in methamphetamine by transport, possession with intent to manufacture/sell/deliver Schedule IV controlled substances, manufacture Schedule IV controlled substances, maintaining a dwelling, possession of a controlled substance in a jail, misdemeanor child abuse, resist, obstruct and/or delay an officer, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Deputies say the visit happened after both agencies received complaints about drug activity and possible child endangerment at her home on Goodwin Ridge Road in Cedar Island.

During the visit, they found a young child at the home, along with meth and various drug paraphernalia.

While at the jail, deputies say they found additional meth and 18 dosage units of Xanax hidden on her.

A judge this morning set the 36-year-old woman’s bond at $300,000 secured.
