“Wrapped in Love” Blanket Drive begins across ENC

NEW BERN, N.C. (WITN) – As winter settles in, an organization here in the east is starting a blanket drive to help foster kids stay warm.

January 31st through February 14th, StepStone Family & Youth Services is accepting new and gently used blankets through their “Wrapped in Love” blanket drive.

“It’s a great opportunity to make a difference in the life of a child,” StepStone Recruitment Manager Sandra Bermudez said. “In just that one moment for the child, the one moment that is so difficult for many, they can have that opportunity to have a warm, fuzzy, blanket.”

StepStone has 10 donation locations across North Carolina including Craven Tire and Automotive Repair in New Bern. Owners Blake and Breanna Frames said they were happy to help and did not think twice about becoming a donation spot.

“It’s just a great opportunity to give back to the community and give back a little bit to the children,” Blake Frames said.

Serving North Carolina for more than 25 years, StepStone said they help connect children in need with foster families and other services, and by just donating a blanket, people can make a big difference.

“Our motto in our company is one step can change a life so that one step can change that life and other lives beyond that,” Bermudez said.

The organization has a goal of at least 250 blankets within the 10 locations.
