CARTERET COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) – A woman was killed after she was thrown from the bed of a pick-up truck that was rear-ended yesterday.

The Highway Patrol says the crash happened Sunday just before 2:00 p.m. on Highway 24 near Utopia Drive, west of Morehead City.

Heather Young, 55, was in the bed of the pickup when it was hit from behind by a car driven by 32-year-old Brittany Jacobs. Troopers say Jacobs didn’t slow down for the pickup truck.

So far no charges have been filed in the crash and it remains under investigation by troopers.
