PITT COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) – A woman faces charges after authorities say her vehicle struck and killed a bicyclist last night in Pitt County.

The Highway Patrol says the crash happened on Highway 33 and Country Road, between Greenville and Grimesland, around 7:15 p.m.

Killed was Taylor Cox, of Grimesland. Troopers say the woman died while en route to ECU Health Medical Center.

Troopers say Kristen Johnson, of Washington, was headed west on the highway when she struck the bicyclist, who was also traveling in the same direction.

Johnson was charged with misdemeanor death by vehicle.
