GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) – WITN is teaming up with the American Red Cross to host a blood drive ahead of the summer season.

The blood drive will be held on the American Red Cross bus parked in the WITN parking lot on Thursday May 23rd. The blood drive will be held from 9am to 1pm.

The Red Cross wants to remind donors that it is the blood already on the shelves that saves lives during emergencies. During the summer months calendars get full and blood donations take a back seat, but the need for blood does not rest.

A single person involved in a car accident may need as many as 100 pints of blood.

Each donation will come with an exclusive Tetris and Red Cross T-shirt.
