Wilson County dad wins $200,000 and uses it towards daughter’s education

RALEIGH, N.C. (WITN) – A Wilson County family got a surprise when their $5 ticket paid for their daughter’s education.

The North Carolina Education Lottery says Bobby Coleman, of Kenly, bought his lucky Bankroll ticket while filling up with gas Tuesday. They said this is the first $200,000 prize of the game to be won and the game began in March.

“I like buying new tickets,” Coleman said. “It really still hasn’t hit me yet,” about his win. Coleman bought the lucky ticket at Oasis on South Church Street in Kenly.

He took home $143,001 after federal and state taxes today.

Coleman said this money will go towards his daughter’s education and any leftover towards home repairs.

The Education Lottery says there are still four $200,000 Bankroll prizes left to grab.
