Welfare check leads to drug charges for New Bern man

NEW BERN, N.C. (WITN) – A police welfare check led to the arrest of a New Bern man this morning.

New Bern police say they acted on an anonymous tip and conducted the welfare check on a woman at 1040 Queen Street.

Officers say they learned that Samuel Hill was possibly providing the woman with drugs to solicit sexual favors.

Hill was found with cocaine, officers say. He was charged with possession with intent to sell/deliver Schedule II controlled substances and resist, delay, and obstruct.

Hill was jailed on a $25,000 secured bond.
