Washington police investigating Friday night homicide

WASHINGTON, N.C. (WITN) – Washington police say a man was shot and killed Friday night in a dispute over money.

The shooting happened in the 500 block of Haven Street around 11:45 p.m.

Police say 43-year-old Jimmy Ruffin died at the scene after being shot in the chest.

The people involved in the shooting know each other, according to police, and that they are cooperating with the investigation.

So far, 54-year-old Quinton Boston has been charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He was released on a $5,000 unsecured bond.

Police say they are continuing to investigate the homicide.
