WASHINGTON COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) – An Eastern Carolina high school will reopen Monday after the facility is deep cleaned.
Washington County High School announced that it will be closed both today and tomorrow for the cleaning. The school system says there has been an increase in reported illnesses.
This morning, a school district spokeswoman said two-thirds of the staff at the high school are out sick. She did not have exact numbers for the students.
School officials say they have been monitoring the absences of students and staff and have noticed the uptick.
The school system would not let WITN inside the school during the cleaning process.
