PITT COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) – A warrant says a man recently released from prison for the Hustle Mart murders helped dispose of a body earlier this week in Pitt County.
Raekwon Blount, of Farmville, was arrested Thursday on a charge of accessory after the fact to murder.
Deputies say that they took a missing person report on Wednesday evening for 23-year-old Zytorius Ruffin of Farmville.
Ruffin’s body was found shortly after, according to a news release.
A warrant says Blount helped an “unnamed offender” by assisting them to escape detection and arrest “by transporting the victim’s body and concealing same in a wooded area on King Farm Rd.”
The warrant says Ruffin was killed either Tuesday or Wednesday.
Sheriff Paula Dance said they found the man’s body by retracing Blount’s ankle monitor. She said Ruffin had been shot twice.
They then located Blount through the same monitor.
The sheriff said they do have a person of interest in Ruffin’s murder and they are waiting to speak to him.
Records show that Blount pled guilty in 2016 to second-degree murder in the Hustle Mart murders outside of Farmville where three people were killed. He was 14 years old at the time. According to online records, Blount was released from prison at the end of September.
Blount was taken to the Pitt County Jail where is being held without bond.
Deputies say that the investigation is still ongoing and additional charges and arrests are possible.
