CEDAR POINT, N.C. (WITN) – A massive fire appears to have heavily damaged a furniture store in one Eastern Carolina town.

According to Western Carteret Fire and EMS Department, they responded to a heavy structure fire at 600 Cedar Boulevard in Cedar Point around 12:45 p.m.

Once the fire crew arrived, they found the 200,000-square-foot single-story commercial structure burning with fire rolling out of the showroom windows.

The fire was put out with the help of firefighters from the surrounding counties, including Onslow and Jones County.

The fire was mostly contained in the building with moderate damage to the carpet store nearby.

The other four businesses in the area suffered relatively minor smoke and water damage.

The scene was cleared around 9:30 a.m. Sunday morning.

There were no injuries from the fire.
