UPDATE: Suspect charged in New Bern nightclub parking lot shooting

NEW BERN, N.C. (WITN) – Police say a suspect has been charged in a nightclub parking lot shooting in New Bern on Friday.

They say it happened around 1:45 am at 30 Summ Ultra Lounge on South Glenburnie Road.

Officers say after a foot chase, Nameek Wiggins was arrested around 10:00 pm in Craven Terrace.

Authorities say the victim showed up at CarolinaEast Medical Center and was later treated and released.

Wiggins faces a list of charges including possession of a stolen firearm, assault with a deadly weapon with an intent to kill and possession with intent to manufacture and distribute marijuana.

Police say Wiggins was placed on a $335,500 secured bond and his next court date is scheduled for June 24th.

This is not the first act of violence at the nightclub, authorities say on January 21, 2023, two men were killed and a third wounded in a shooting in the same parking lot.

They say the man who survived, Clonzie Nealy, Jr., was charged with two counts of murder.
