UPDATE: Pitt Co. home fire cause believed to be accidental

PITT COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) – A fire damaged a Pitt County home near Farmville Thursday afternoon.

According to firefighters, the call came in just before 4:30 Thursday afternoon about a house fire at 3569 Moye-Turnage Road near Farmville.

Pitt County Fire Marshal Jay Morris says the cause of the fire is believed to be accidental but is labeled undetermined at this time.

The single-story home suffered significant damage and firefighters say that the American Red Cross is assisting the family.

The fire marshal says at the time of a fire, a child and the child’s grandfather were inside.

According to firefighters, the fire was contained by 7 p.m.

There were no injuries.

Jay says the investigation was led by the SBI, Pitt County Emergency Management, State Fire Marshal’s Office.
