UPDATE: Pedestrian dies from injuries in Carteret Co. hit-and-run crash

CARTERET COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) – Authorities have released the name of the pedestrian struck an killed in a hit-and-run crash in Carteret County on Friday.

According to the NC State Highway Patrol, 31-year-old Cierra Bergins of Sneads Ferry, NC passed away from her injuries sustained in the collision.

Troopers say they are seeking the public’s help to find the person responsible.

Troopers are looking for the driver involved in pedestrian hit-and-run crash in Carteret County on Friday.

The North Carolina State Highway Patrol says they responded to the scene on Tootle Road near Barbour Road at around 8:20 pm.

They say according to a witness, the person was struck by a dark colored car with heavy front-end damage that later fled the scene.

Authorities say the pedestrian was transported by air to Novant Hospital in Wilmington with life-threatening injuries.
