UPDATE: Greenville Utilities rerouting power while investigating main outage issue

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) – Utility crews are dealing with a major power outage in parts of Greenville.

Greenville police said that the outage is in the Highway 33 & Highway 264 corridor.

The latest update from Greenville Utilities at 11:15 says that crews are rerouting power while assessing the cause of the problem.

Officers are being directed to numerous intersections to direct traffic.

The outage is impacting everything from homes, to events, to businesses in areas of the city.

Some have also reported cell phone signal issues though it’s not known if that is related to the outage.

Greenville Utilities Commission is aware of the outage and working to restore power. We’ve reached out to GUC’s public information officer for more details.

Greenville police on social media said that there’s no ETA on the fix but that it will “likely be a lengthy process.”

GUC’s outage map indicates there are possibly thousands in the dark.

A reminder for drivers, all unattended intersections without power should be treated as a four-way stop.
