UPDATE: Fire crews say forest fire in Craven Co. 100% contained

CRAVEN COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) – Fire crews say they were able to put out the forest fire in Craven County on Sunday.

According, to the NC Forest Service, the blaze is 100% contained and may still be smoking but is not expected to spread.

Firefighters are working to contain a forest fire in Craven County on Sunday.

Craven County Emergency Services Director Stanley Kite says the blaze started around noon in Ernul. According to the North Carolina Forest Service, the fire is currently impacting 100 acres.

Kite says there are no evacuations at this time.

He says multiple units including two volunteer fire departments and the NC Forest Service are all on the scene.
