HAVELOCK, N.C. (WITN) – For the second time in a week, one Eastern Carolina city had a major sewage spill at the same location.
Thousands of gallons of sewage flowed behind homes on Salem Court and Creekbridge Court.
Havelock originally said 27,500 gallons of sewage got into Slocum Creek on Sunday. On Monday, the city said only 13,750 actually made its way into the creek, while the remaining sewage was recovered.
This is the second spill behind the same homes, the first was on January 15.
The state Division of Water Resources is looking into both spills.
