Two men behind bars after traffic stop reveals illegal drugs & gun, police say

The Kinston Police Department says both men are convicted felons and are facing multiple charges after being arrested this morning.

KINSTON, N.C. (WITN) – Thursday morning police in the east say they arrested two men after stopping them for traffic violations.

The Kinston Police Department says Mason Torres and Markie Koonce, both convicted felons, are facing multiple charges after being arrested this morning.

Officers say during a traffic stop they saw a plastic bag containing cocaine. After a search, investigators say they found a concealed gun in the vehicle.

The stop happened at East Lenoir Avenue and McLewean Street.

Koonce, of Kinston, has been charged with possession of a firearm by a felon, carrying a concealed gun, and possession of a Schedule II substance.
