Two-day Renaissance Festival kicks off in Kinston

KINSTON, N.C. (WITN) -Residents in the east traveled back into the medieval times in Lenoir County on Saturday.

Turkey legs, horses, and sword fighting are what can be seen at the Renaissance Festival in Kinston this weekend.

People have a chance to travel into the past.

Caroline Duttman says she is new to experiencing this unique event.

“This is my first time being here. I have never been to a Renaissance Fair before. So I’m really happy I got this opportunity” says Duttman.

The large crowd of people were able to enjoy the various shows, food and vendors.

Jessica Snodgrass says she doesn’t mind shelling out money on all the goodies…

“I was here two years ago and it was not this big so it’s grown a lot and I’m really excited to be back” says Snodgrass.

Victoria Kinball says she attends the events each year and recommends others do the same.

“It’s a good learning experience. You get to see a little bit of the cultures from the past and you get to have fun” says Kinball.

This is the third year that Lenoir County has held the Renaissance Festival.

It ends on April 14th.
