Two collisions within half mile happen in Greenville Friday morning

An accident on Charles Boulevard left an apartment sign on the ground, and an accident on Evans Street trapped a driver.

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) – Two separate car accidents involving multiple cars in an Eastern Carolina city happen less than a half mile away.

The crashes occurred just before 9 a.m.

One accident happened on Charles Boulevard, and the other on Evans Street between 13th Street and 14th Street.

The collision on Charles Boulevard happened near the crosswalk leading to Mingies Coliseum. A man driving a white Nissan Altima tells WITN the brakes in his car failed, causing him to crash into the sign for The Bower Student Living apartment complex. Another car, driven by a woman was pulled off to the side with damage. As of 9:15 a.m., Greenville police officers are on scene.

Around the corner on Evans Street, between 13th Street and 14th Street, another collision involving two cars is being attended by Greenville Fire/Rescue. It appears a black SUV suffered damage to the driver-side door. Emergency crews were working to remove the driver from the car.
