Tropical Update: Philippe staying weak & Rina forms as Tropical Storm; Both remain in the Atlantic

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) – As of the Thursday 5 p.m. advisory, Tropical Storm Philippe currently has sustained winds at 45 mph, with gust up to 60 mph, and was moving to the W at 2 mph. Philippe is still expected to weaken over the coming days, with the storm transitioning to a low end tropical storm next week.

As of the 5 PM advisory, Tropical Storm Philippe remains out to sea and poses no threat to ENC.

Rina is also out in the Atlantic as a tropical storm, as of the 5 p.m. advisory. Rina currently has winds at 40 mph and gust up to 50 mph, and is moving to the northwest at 14 mph. Rina is forecasted to stay a tropical storm going into the weekend and next week.

As of the 5 PM advisory, Tropical Storm Rina remains out to sea and poses no threat to ENC.
