Tropical Storm Bret continues to strengthen over the coming days

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) – Tropical Storm Bret has formed in the Atlantic making it the second named storm of the Atlantic hurricane season.

The storm is currently moving west at 21 mph with maximum sustained winds of 40 mph. Minimum central pressure is 1008 mb and falling. Bret is forecast to progress westward over the next few days or so and quickly intensify. Forecasters at the National Hurricane Center projects that Bret may attain hurricane status by the end of this week

Interests in the Lesser Antilles, Puerto Rico and Hispanola should closely monitor the progression of this storm.
