Troopers searching for driver in Carteret County hit-and-run

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) – Troopers are looking for the driver involved in pedestrian hit-and-run crash in Carteret County on Friday.

The North Carolina State Highway Patrol says they responded to the scene on Tootle Road near Barbour Road at around 8:20 pm.

They say according to a witness, the person was struck by a dark colored car with heavy front-end damage that later fled the scene.

Authorities say the pedestrian was transported by air to Novant Hospital in Wilmington with life-threatening injuries.
