ONSLOW COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) – A fire truck responding to a wreck in Onslow County overturned Friday afternoon.

According to Highway Patrol Sergeant J.L. Morton, 30-year-old Cameron Lanier and 21-year-old Eric Maready were in fire truck 904 with Nine Mile Fire Department in Richlands, responding to a wreck on Burgaw Highway.

While on the way to the wreck, Morton says a truck crossed the center line, causing Lanier to swerve to the right to avoid hitting the vehicle. Lanier then overcorrected back to the left, causing him to run off the side of the roadway where he overturned into a ditch on Gurganus Road.

Morton says Lanier suffered a minor hand injury and no charges are being filed.
