Trio arrested as part of New Bern shooting investigation

NEW BERN, N.C. (WITN) – Three people have been arrested on drug and gun charges as New Bern police were investigated a shooting.

A Shot Spotter notification, along with officers hearing the actual gunfire, alerted them to the shooting on Hamilton Drive around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Keandre Holiday, 25, of New Bern, was taken to CarolinaEast Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.

Officers say their investigation led them to get a search warrant for an apartment at Craven Terrace where they found marijuana and a gun.

  • Garren Jones, 31, is charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, felony possession of marijuana, possession of firearm by felon and alter remove serial number.
  • Travarrius Ellis, 36, is charged with maintaining dwelling for controlled substances, possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, felony possession of marijuana and alter remove gun serial number.
  • Yuself Scott, 33, is charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, felony possession of marijuana, possession of firearm by felon and alter remove serial number.

The shooting of Holiday continues to be investigated, according to police. They said no one called about the shooting, and the Shot Spotter system gave officers an exact location where the crime happened, allowing them to locate key evidence.
