ALAMANCE COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) – An elderly woman in the Triad has become the latest person to die as a result of Tropical Storm Debby.

Alamance County deputies say 78-year-old Hilda Jones was inside her home in Brown Summit when the tree fell around 7:30 p.m. Thursday.

No one else was inside the mobile home at the time. Deputies believe the tree fell due to weather from Debby.

Jones is the second person in the state to die from Debby. Early yesterday a Wilson County man was killed when a tornado struck his home.
