Traffic stop leads to trafficking arrest

CURRITUCK COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) – A Camden County man is facing multiple charges in a neighboring county after a traffic stop.

Currituck County deputies stopped Dwayne Rodriguez yesterday for a traffic violation.

After probable cause was established, deputies searched the man’s vehicle and seized various narcotics and drug paraphernalia.

The 26-year-old Rodriguez was charged with trafficking in cocaine, maintain vehicle for controlled substance, possession with intent to sell/deliver marijuana, possession of marijuana paraphernalia, and open container of alcohol.

Rodriguez was jailed on a $20,000 secured bond.

Two passengers in the vehicle were cited for misdemeanor drug charges and released.
