WILSON COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) – A tornado has damaged an Eastern Carolina middle school.

Images of Springfield Middle School in Wilson County have been circulating on social media showing major damage to the school.

North Carolina Emergency Management is also reporting damage to the school.

A tornado warning was issued for the area just before 3 a.m. and continued until 3:45 a.m. The path of the warning took the storm right through the location of the school.
