CRAVEN COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) – Three more people have been charged in the death of a six-year-old boy in Craven County.
John Swartz died at ECU Health Medical Center on December 3rd. When he arrived at the hospital, authorities say his body temperature was 86 degrees.
Originally, Tracey Torres, who lived at the home on Perrytown Road, was charged with murder.
Deputies have now charged three other people who lived at the same home with murder. They are 49-year-old Orlando Torres, 26-year-old Ashley Torres, and 27-year-old Julia Swartz.
Swartz is listed as the boy’s mother in his obituary.
An autopsy said the child died from two blunt trauma injuries and had numerous bruises on his body.
Deputies say after additional evidence and consulting with the district attorney, the additional charges were made.
The three people are being held without bond.
