WASHINGTON, N.C. (WITN) – A familiar face is returning as principal at Washington High School, weeks after the current principal was reassigned.

Beaufort County Schools says Dr. Michael Swinson starts his new job on July 1st.

Swinson, who is currently the principal at D. H. Conley High School in Pitt County, had the same job at Washington High from 2016 until 2021.

He will replace Isaac Lister, Jr. who was transferred to the county’s Alternative Learning Program on April 29th. The school system never said why Lister was moved to the new job at the same pay.

Lister had only been at Washington High since July 1st.

Pitt County Schools says they are now searching for a new principal at D.H. Conley.
