GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) – A veteran police officer in one Eastern Carolina city is getting a new promotion after years of service.

Officials say Chris Sutton has been promoted to the rank of deputy chief of the ECU Police Department.

During his time at ECU, he’s held the rank of lieutenant and sergeant.

Sutton began his career at ECU back in 2000. He has served as the department’s field operations commander since February 2019.

Sutton’s new position became effective on August 1.
