State of Emergency lifted for Belhaven

BEAUFORT COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) – The State of Emergency issues for one Eastern Carolina town has been lifted.

Belhaven Mayor Ricky Credle lifted the advisory Monday morning.

In a post on social media, the town said that there is still some lingering water on some streets and that drivers should avoid pressing through it as it can cause damage.

The town said residents should stay home and off of the roads.

They say driving through flood waters can cause damage to life and property and violators may be issued citations.
