‘Spotlight for Cancer’ initiative for cancer detection

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) – This Thursday, Pam Shadle with ECU Health Beaufort Hospital and Stacey Lynch with Shepard Cancer Center Development Council invite the community to join in on the Spotlight on Cancer initiative project that highlights the importance of cancer screenings and detections.

Starting this month, the ECU Beaufort Hospital will be lighting 20 trees and the cancer center campus with the color blue for colon cancer awareness.  Each month, the trees will be a different color highlighting that month’s cancer (i.e. October will be pink for breast cancer awareness).

Spotlight on Cancer is more than just a lighting of trees. Each month we will widely share the importance of screening and early detection with the community. The hope is that when people see the lighted trees it will be a reminder to get those important cancer screenings and remind those they love to do the same.

The initial reveal of the project will be Thursday, March 14th a 7 p.m.

Both guests shared there will be plenty of food and speeches from special guests to talk about the projects significance.
