Sports shop break-in leads to police chase with four teenagers

Kinston police say around 3:15 a.m. officers went to Neuse Sport Shop for an alarm call and found a broken window.

KINSTON, N.C. (WITN) – Four teens are suspected of breaking into a sporting goods shop and then leading police on a chase early this morning.

Kinston police say around 3:15 a.m. officers went to Neuse Sport Shop for an alarm call and found a broken window. Additional officers passed a vehicle leaving the area without any lights on and they chased the vehicle.

Some 3-1/2 miles later, police say the vehicle hit a home on Lotus Place and three of the four people in the vehicle ran from the crash.

The chase ended when police said the vehicle struck a house on Lotus Place.

In addition to the 16-year-old in the vehicle, police have been able to identify another 16-year-old who was in the vehicle. Officers say they are working with juvenile authorities on charging the teenagers.

Police say no one was hurt in the crash and damage to the house was minimal. Officers did say one of their patrol vehicles had minor damage because of the chase.
