Snow Hill police find suspected smoking bandit

SNOW HILL, N.C. (WITN) – Police in one Eastern Carolina town say they have found a man who jumped over a store counter and helped himself to the cigarettes.

Snow Hill police have charged Jeffrey Page with felony larceny.

Two weeks ago, police released photos of the store theft at the Handy Mart on Kingold Boulevard.

Workers told officers that the man came into the store, hopped over the counter, and began taking the cigarettes, putting them in a sack. Police said the man also managed to take some lighters from the counter before leaving.

Police thanked Goldsboro police, Wayne County deputies, and eyewitnesses for their help in making the arrest possible.

The 28-year-old Page was given a $4,000 bond by a magistrate.
