KINSTON, N.C. (WITN) – Crews are responding to a sinkhole that opened up on a Kinston roadway.

The city says that the sinkhole is on Dunn Family Road.

Rushing water can damage road beds which can prompt sinkholes.

Officials say that the road is state maintained.

Kinston Public Services is sending a crew to check on utilities.
