Shots fired inside Goldsboro shopping mall

GOLDSBORO, N.C. (WITN) – An Eastern Carolina shopping mall was closed today after a shooting just before noon.

Police say two people are in custody and no one was injured after shots were fired inside the Berkeley Mall on North Berkeley Boulevard.

The shooting happened just before noon.

Police say they are searching for others in connection with the shooting.

The mall remains closed and will reopen tomorrow, according to police.

In addition to the mall, several nearby schools were put on lockdown.

Greenwood Middle, Meadow Lane Elementary, and North Drive Elementary were placed on lockdown, while Edgewood Community Developmental School also went into a soft lockdown out of an abundance of caution, according to the school system.

All of the lockdowns were lifted by police around 1:30 PM.
