Shooting at Plymouth VFW sends two men to hospital, woman trampled

PLYMOUTH, N.C. (WITN) – Police in the east say they are investigating after a weekend shooting hurt two men and left a woman trampled.

The Plymouth Police Department says they were called to the VFW at 102 Old Roper Road around 11:30 p.m. Saturday night for a shots fired call.

When officers got there, Chief Willie Williams says they found a woman who had been trampled from the crowd running from gunshots.

He says officers were also made aware of two men being taken to Washington Regional Medical Center.

One man was shot in the left leg, and the other was shot in the upper right thigh, according to Williams.

The police chief says two young men were moved to ECU Health Medical Center in Greenville after initial treatment.

Investigators say at least three vehicles were shot into, and over 20 shell casings were found in the VFW parking lot and on the road.

Williams says they do not have suspects at this time, and he asks anyone with information to call 252-793-4680.
