LA GRANGE, N.C. (WITN) – A man has been arrested in the Tuesday night shooting death of a man in La Grange.
The Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office says Julius Graham, of La Grange, surrendered himself to deputies at about 4 p.m. Wednesday. The office says Graham cooperated and provided a statement about the shooting.
Lenoir County Sheriff Ronnie Ingram said camera footage from multiple angles showed that the man who died, Terrence Outlaw, Jr., 27, of La Grange, pulled a gun first.
“It has been determined that Graham was not the aggressor and that he acted in self-defense,” Ingram said.
Deputies say the case has been deemed self-defense, but Graham still faces charges from the incident. He is charged with possession of a firearm by a felon and obstruction of justice.
Graham was jailed under a $40,000 secured bond.
Major Ryan Dawson with the Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office says it happened at the Stop N Go at 109 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive around 9:00 p.m. Tuesday.
