Section of Duplin County road to close starting Monday for pipe replacement

PINK HILL, N.C. (WITN) – A section of a Duplin County road is scheduled to close through the end of September for maintenance.

The North Carolina Department of Transportation says Panther Creek Road will be closed near Highway 11 between 9 a.m. on Sept. 19 and 5 p.m. on Sept. 30th.

WITN is told that the closure will allow crews to safely remove an undersized crossline pipe and replace it with a larger culvert. The upgrade is expected to improve water flow and will be able to handle more too.

Drivers are told to use Highway 111 or Highway 11 as detours. The department encourages drivers to allow extra time for commutes and to be cautious near the work zone.
