Second-grader wins Greenville’s 250th anniversary art competition

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) – Second-grader Ajoong Lee has won Greenville’s 250th anniversary art competition.

Her art will be displayed at Greenville City Hall during an art walk this fall.

“I was very excited and couldn’t believe it,” said Lee.

The city encouraged Students to create artwork based on their favorite aspects of Greenville. Lee’s piece was inspired by her love of rollerblading near the Tar River. She also included a drawing of her favorite doll, Clover.

“We wanted to come up with as many different initiatives as we could that would get the community involved, and by the community, I mean all aspects of the community, so that includes the youth,” said Brock Letchworth, Greenville’s public information officer.

Lee received $75.00 in gift cards for her winning entry. Middle and high school winners, as well as several honorable mentions, will also have their art displayed at city hall this fall.
