ONSLOW COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) – A second arrest has been made in a shooting that killed two Onslow County men and wounded another Wednesday night.
The latest arrest is a 17-year-old who has been charged with murder, robbery with a firearm, and conspiracy to commit robbery. The teenage boy is being held in secure custody, according to deputies.
Onslow County Sheriff Chris Thomas says the shooting happened in the parking lot of 53 Mini Mart and Tobacco at 3458 Burgaw Highway around 5:20 p.m. Investigators believe the shooting was the result of a drug deal that turned into a robbery.
Dead are 18-year-old Christian Peterson, and 19-year-old Kalib Bostick, both who lived in the Jacksonville area. The third victim, who hasn’t been identified, is in stable condition at Naval Medical Center Camp Lejeune.
Wali Johnson, 20, of Hubert, has been charged with murder, robbery with firearms, and conspiring to commit robbery. He’s in jail under no bond.
Deputies say one of the victims was found dead in the parking lot, while the other victim was dead inside a vehicle.
Sheriff Thomas also says those involved did not have anything to do with the store. Multiple handguns were found at the crime scene, one of which had previously been reported as stolen.
