Second arrest made in connection with 2022 Greenville murder

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) – A second man has been arrested in connection with a murder that happened more than two years ago in Greenville.

Court documents say Damir Morrissette was arrested yesterday on the charge of accessory after the fact to murder.

In April, Greenville police arrested David Tarrant for the March 24, 2022 murder of William Rushing.

The 36-year-old man’s body was found at Honor Ridge, an affordable housing complex for veterans on West Vancroft Circle.

An arrest warrant says Morrissette helped Tarrant escape arrest by moving the victim’s body after the murder and helping dispose of the murder weapon.

The 23-year-old Winterville man is being held on a $500,000 secured bond.
