Rocky Mount shooting investigation leads to drug bust

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. (WITN) – A Rocky Mount shooting investigation took a twist on Friday and ended up in a drug bust.

According to Rocky Mount police, investigators were looking into a December 9th shooting that happened in the 1200 block of Liberty Street where someone shot into an occupied car when they determined that the person they suspected in the shooting had ties to a home at 1209 Liberty Street.

Police said that while they were investigating the shooting, they watched several drug deals take place at the home.

Police say that when they searched the house with a warrant for the shooting on Friday, February 16th, they saw illegal drugs in plain site and got a second warrant to look for more drugs.

During the search police say they found four guns, 80 doses of Fentanyl pills, marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and $760 in cash.

Rocky Mount police arrested 32-year-old Kelvis Marshall of Rocky Mount inside of the house and charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver schedule I controlled substance, possession with intent to sell and deliver schedule II control substance, possession with intent to sell and deliver schedule VI control substance, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and felony maintaining a vehicle/dwelling for control substance and possession of drug paraphernalia

Marshall was taken to the Nash County Jail where he was held on a $65,000 secured bond.
