Reward offered for suspected Pamlico County boat thief

PAMLICO COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) – Deputies in one Eastern Carolina county are offering a reward for information that helps them locate a suspected boat thief.

Pamlico County deputies are looking for John Nigh.

Deputies say on Friday they got a call from the boat’s owner saying it was stolen in the Dawson’s Creek area and saw the thief leaving the area, crossing the Neuse River, and headed towards Adams Creek.

Thanks to citizen tips, they found the boat abandoned near Harlowe Creek in Carteret County and developed the 36-year-old Reelsboro man as a suspect. They have warrants out for felony breaking and entering of a vehicle and felony larceny.

Deputies say Nigh should be considered dangerous and should not be approached if spotted.

They are offering a $500 reward for information that leads to his arrest.

Anyone with information on Nigh’s whereabouts should contact the Pamlico County Sheriff’s Office at 252-745-3101.
